They Tried To Stop Me. Then They Congratulated Me.
Cheers to the people who try to be "well-meaning" and stand in the way of our dreams. At the end of they day, they're just scared humans.
I remember in 2009 when my parents went around their friend circle calling everyone they could and asking them to speak to me, or maybe those people just wanted to speak to me, to dissuade me from pursuing a music degree, and they did.
A few years later, degree in hand and after a placement in a movie (which later on even became primetime TV as an actor), those same people who's son's performance I was attending (so you let your son perform in music, but wanted to stop me? Um... ok?) congratulated me after the event commenting to my parents, "This guy is awesome... was in music... now's HE'S IN MOVIES?!?!" as a reply to me saying, "Congrats to your Son!", to them about their Son after the show.
